Words From Fr. Colin

Dear Brothers & Sisters,

As we are in rapidly changing times, with Corona Virus, difficult decisions had to be made by the Bishops of England & Wales to suspend public services until further notice. This is a very difficult situation for all of us because we love our celebrations of Mass as we come together as God’s family.

One thing Bishop Mark encourages us to do is to make Spiritual Communion.

To help us do this Mass from Plymouth Cathedral will be streamed at 11am each morning. Either Bishop Mark or one of the Cathedral priests will celebrate Mass.

Every evening at 4.30pm there will also be a time of prayer online. To access these resources try the following website links:

The Diocesan website on : https://www.plymouth-diocese.org.uk/
and on the Plymouth Cathedral website: https://www.plymouthcathedral.co.uk/
Bishop Mark also features on You Tube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8KUEwsXFK3VBLEfn4H1tBw
It is hoped that there will be a Diocesan You Tube page.

At the moment we are trying to see if we can stream Mass from our own church as well. Every day I will be offering Mass for all your intentions and praying for you all. I will be praying the Divine Office for all the people of the parish and your loved ones.

As long as I am still ‘’standing and able’’ the church will be open each day. Whilst observing the need to maintain social distance, feel free to come in and pray, because the Lord is still present in the Blessed Sacrament.

If anyone is feeling anxious or would like prayer please feel free to contact Joy or myself; either by email or phone. Please do not come into the office in person. If you or anyone you know needs any help please let us know by phone or email.

Because there is no public Mass and there are restrictions on visiting to prevent cross infection unfortunately at the moment we cannot bring you Holy Communion at home.

I am still in the hospital frequently as one of the hospital chaplains. If anyone is admitted to hospital please let us know if you can.

Check out the CBCEW (Catholic Bishops Conference of England & Wales) website for further church news and statements.

The normal Sunday and Holy Days Obligation has been lifted until further notice.

I hope to keep in touch with everyone by regular newsletter.

Best Wishes and God Bless
